University of Georgia OIIT Athens, GA
The University System of Georgia’s Office of Information and Instructional Technology (OIIT) relocated due to the increasing size of its staff. The new building was the first in the University Parkway Office and Technology Park near Athens, GA. More than 200 employees, who are involved with managing the complex computer systems for the university system’s 34 institutions, moved to this new site. EDI was hired by Nichols Land & Investment Company, the project’s developer, to design, bid, and observe construction for the structured cabling, security, and audio-visual systems as well as the facility’s data center.
The building houses offices, systems furniture, conference rooms, break rooms, mailroom, storage rooms, and the following high tech areas:
- 2,000 Square Foot Data Center
- 2,500 Square Foot Labs, Help Desk and Network Operations Center
- Operations Workroom
- Conference Rooms and Training Facility
