Sumter Regional Hospital East
Americus, Georgia

On March 1st, 2007, Sumter Regional Hospital was hit by an F-3 tornado.  The facility was left so severely damaged as to be unusable and unsalvageable.  Rather than close, the leaders of this non-profit hospital chose to build a brand new state of the art hospital to serve their communities.  In order to maintain service while the new hospital is built, Sumter first set up treatment tents and in mid 2007 began construction of an interim hospital in a nearby parking lot. EDI is very proud to be part of Sumter’s invincible team and the spirit that is erecting this immediate interim solution to provide local healthcare to the Sumter community. EDI also donated approximately 10% of our fee for this project to the Sumter Hospital Foundation to help with the recovery effort.
