EDI SOLUTION:
To become a world-class university, the founders of Education City recognized that audio-visual technology must be integrated within the building design and construction and not included later as an afterthought. EDI was selected to perform all audio-visual design for more than 50 distance education classrooms that would be housed in the Medical College and the College of Arts and Sciences buildings. The classrooms ranged from intimate seminar rooms to auditoriums seating more than 150.
EDI designed video conferencing systems to help eliminate the thousands of miles of distance for instructors and students, allowing them to see and hear each other in real-time while exchanging information using a variety of tools, including electronic white boards and high-resolution computer graphics. Intuitive touch-screen control systems enable instructors and technicians to control cameras, monitors and other equipment on both sides of the ocean simultaneously.
Instructors traveling to Qatar expected to walk into a classroom environment that was familiar. To meet this requirement, EDI ensured the operation and configuration of presentation systems were carefully matched to the systems utilized in the classrooms back home, while the capabilities were significantly enhanced.
