Intriguing Lives Outside of EDI

Andy Parsons loves to play ice hockey. He started with roller hockey in middle school, and when he moved to Atlanta he started playing ice hockey in the Atlanta Amateur Hockey League (AAHL). Andy plays in two divisions. One is a competitive division in which his team just won the championship about 2 weeks ago (see photo). The other is a co-ed recreational league that he plays in with his girlfriend, Anne. According to Andy – it’s a lot of fun and keeps them in shape!

Another ice hockey fan - Gary Cudmore – has been playing since he was 6, making that 48 years of play. Gary says he never gets tired of putting on his gear and competing. According to Gary, “the game requires your full concentration or BAD things can happen – you do not want to get caught looking down at the puck or your next view will be looking up at the rink lighting system. I am not sure how much longer I will be able to compete with the young guys; the last team I played on in California had two brothers for line mates and if you added their ages together and added 10 years I was still the oldest! My days are numbered”.

Dave Hettrich is just wrapping up the fall season as head coach for the YMCA’s Boys Under 12 Soccer for North Cobb YMCA League. In January and February 2011, he will take training classes to obtain a GA license required by GA in order to continue his new head coaching hobby for 2011.

One of Mark July’s passions beyond the office is music and playing the violin.

When not working endless hours at EDI, Rob Nash-Boulden enjoys running and watching football. His faves: Pro – Cardinals, Suns, Diamondbacks, Coyotes; College – Arizona State and whoever is playing the University of Arizona.

Howard Wageman has 9 members in his family and is always participating in some activity or with some child or in some school!! Besides this, they love to camp and hike in the summer and cook with dutch ovens.

Outside of his busy life at EDI, Don Kinser is the President of American Whitewater and an avid whitewater paddler. He also enjoys hunting and all forms of outdoor recreation.

One of Jason Barton’s main interests outside of work is playing baseball on a recreational men’s summer league. Jason pitches and plays first base for the Dodgers team in the 25-year-old and over Men’s Senior Baseball League (MSBL) here in metro-Atlanta. They play just about every Sunday from April through August and is a great way to stay in shape and keep those competitive juices flowing. Over the last 3 years Jason has made a lot of friends and had a blast playing.

Cynthia Glendale is into designing and making art quilts - basically, anything to do with fiberarts: quilting, weaving, felting, sewing, dyeing, spinning, and so on. If you ever want to make friends fast in a new city, find the nearest quilting shop!

Beth Bandi enjoys playing golf and looks forward to being the “ringer” during outings.
